Default 1976 Chrysler 35 hp coil issue

My 1976 Chrysler 35 hp has the battery type ignition that uses two, 12 volt, externally mounted coils. One has cracks
in the casing. It still produces a spark but runs very hot. Probably won't last much longer. These coils are very expensive
to replace. Has anyone else had this problem and used a small, 12 volt automotive coil to solve it ? Thanks

Thanks, I will check with them.
I did discover that both coils run hot depending on what point set is closed at the time. I guess it makes sense because they each
have 12 volts applied to their individual circuits whenever the ignition switch is on. The mounting bracket that holds the coils is very
substantial and maybe it was designed to also act as a heat sink. Anyone have similar experience ?
    Thank you

Coils should run hot but not so hot
    that it would burn you.

If they spark, just use them and see if they fail?
You can always fill in the cracks with Liquid Electric
    Tape.
