Bravo 3 drive removed from boat, What position should the shift linkage be in for neutral? All the way out, all the way in, half way?

been playing around with it but can’t seem to find neutral. Wondering if there is a issue and couldn’t find anything online.

When you were removing the drive in neutral it will shift into rev I think, shift rod pulled all the way out.
When you install it, the shift rod captures the end of the cable and will push it back into neutral when you tighten the drive

interesting so I shouldn’t be able to shift this thing when it’s off of the boat?

when I spin the drive shaft the prop shaft will only turn one way regardless of what position the shift rod is in. So based on what you Are saying I will assume that is reverse.
