Clinton chief,fuel connector.

I have a Clinton chief outboard,it came with a boat that I purchased. It's way too small for the boat, but I would like to get it up and running.
The engine fuel connection is totally different to other outboards, and it didn't come with a fuel pipe with the connector on it.
The fuel pump is part of the steering handle that enables a 360% turn because there is no reverse on the motor.
I am thinking of tapping into the fuel pump and inserting a BSP pipe connection,so I can get fuel to the pump.
Has anyone done it?
I don't need the outboard, and will probably give it away when I sort it out.

The fuel pump has to have an inlet fitting of some type now....I'd be inclined to use that and make any changes on the opposite end of the hose....

I've considered that, but the connection on the pump would be difficult to get an attachment to.
I think there is a one way valve in the pump connection.(small pin in the centre)
