So i just bought this engine, it was running (rough) and looked in great shape, so i pulled the carb apart and soaked it overnight. i then went to buy a new gasket set as they were all shot basically and they are discontinued....nothing on ebay and i could try making new ones, but even the plunger head is shot so cant make a gasket for that. is there an aftermarket alternative, or does someone want to buy some spare parts?

Well, it's not for everyone but there are oring and seal making kits available that can work. All fiber gaskets can be fashioned with appropriate gasket paper, a ball peen hammer and a small hole punch kit.

Hard parts can be made... sometimes... with the help of silver solder and a dremel set. It just depends on how bad you want it. I know that people keep little "hobby lathes" in their shop for making small parts and, if you could find one of those guys, they would probably try to help you. Might be tougher than finding a new carb though.

Not sure what a "plunger head" is.
