I have my sight in a set of Twins Yamaha OX66 2001,
One have 200 hours and the other is about 600 hours and looking good on the outside.
i am hiring a mechanic to check them in full before hand the money but I already have one experience when a paid mechanic miss to check many points making the purchase a lot more expensive than similar motors.
I don't know much of Yamaha other than OX66 seems to be a very reliable engine.
I know we have to check the basics,
Compression with no more than 10 PSI difference between cylinders and must be over 90 PSI on all of them
Check the drive (Lower) unit for leaks
and of course the run test on the water with one engine at the time and then the two engines together.
Any particulars of the brand that i need to point out to the mechanic to check?
I already have a check point list, does anyone have one that want to share?
