I did the start up procedure according to manual. Water was pumped into intake holes and engine started. Water never sprayed out of the pilot water hole so the engine was shut down to avoid damage. I tried the same process with the intake holes submerged under water. Water never sprayed out of the pilot water hole. How long can I run the motor. Should it be at idle or should I increase throttle to prime water pump. It's a new motor.
 
In answer to your question,no.
Is the pilot hole clear? Can you blow air thru it?
You may have burnt up your pump by running without water.
 
Did the selling dealer not prepare this motor and show you how to run / operate it ?----Or did you save a few dollars by getting it " on line " and delivered to your door ?
