    Default 1965 Johnson 5hp LD-10 Original Colors/Paint (help!)

I have a 1965 Johnson 5 HP, and I can't find the original OEM colors/replacement paint . Here is a link to a picture of the engine colors:

    http://www.2040-parts.com/vintage-ra...1965--i405089/

Here are the choices for the year this engine was produced:
    1959-66 Warm White 0771260
    1963-69 Polychromatic Blue 0771259
    1964-76 White 0771236
    1967-71 Arctic White 0771269
    1968-69 Forest Green 0771261

The base is kind of a gray color - is that warm white? White?

The cover is also one of the whites?

    thank you!

I thought the greyish color was French Silver.

That is great, I can buy some and try it out. Any idea on the white?

I have the formula in the shop. Both whites. Will get a photo of each and post them. Get em mixed at our body supply store here in Duluth. They have been mixing paints for me for 47 years.....only messed up a couple times. Did a Yamaha that was too dark. Owner never noticed. You use a spray gun? Today got a 1981 Evinrude lite blue. Had him mix a pint in acrylic. Spent few hours preparing old parts and touching up decals. I will not use an activated basecoat under my clear because it's way too expensive. This is a non activated acrylic enamel and I will shoot epoxy clear over it once it's set. Cost of supplies will be under 50 bucks and will far exceed OEM finish in both beauty and durability. Using an automotive base/clear works but it's not durable once nicked, or the paint film is compromised. Why? The base is too hard and has little resistance to oxidation as it gets older and nicked up. The "softer" acrylic enamel is better adhesion and helpful in resisting oxidation. The clear, which is activated with hardener, binds nicely to the fresh acrylic actually etching into it. The combined properties of each create a damn nice finish. If I use new decals, I apply them to the fresh acrylic enamel once it's hardened....say 6 to 12 hours....less out in the hot sun, then lightly scotch brite the decals, then epoxy clear over everything.
If the 1981 25 horse turns out okay, I will post a picture...

Here is mixing formulas for Dupont and/or Nason base coat systems. They are of course compatible products....Nason is a little less expensive.

Here is formula for 64 and up off white. Color used by Evinrude too on some models.
