BF50 rough_hard shifting

2007 BF 50 has a noticeable clunk sound and feel when shifting .doesn't hesitate , just feels like its too hard. I intended to replace the water pump at end of season yet Im concerned I should pull it out now and inspect the bottom end. This will be new territory for me .

Thoughts and Comments are appreciated

Idle too high and heavy stainless steel props will both cause a pretty good clunk as the motor goes into gear. Not a real big fan of the stainless props for that reason.

Good idle rpm is one where you can shift into gear without that distracting CLUNK!

Freshly cleaned and tuned carbs should allow something under 900 pretty easily, and should result in a minimum clunk without stalling.
