35hp no start

Engine has remote control, Starter not working when turning key to start. Motor just clicks. I connected the two wires from the remote control together hoping to disable the no start safety switch that I thought was in the remote control. No joy. Is there one on the engine somewhere? Could it be bad starter solanoid. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If click is from starter solenoid.....and probably is.....then it's a bad connection, or bad solenoid. First check all high amperage connections at battery and at engine ground, then at solenoid.

Thank You. I will give it a look see. I have considerable experience with automobile engines. None with boat engines.

Could be starter motor but you probably already tried with jumping it direct, eh?

Yes, starter works and engine will start.
