Hi, I am interested in buying a used 1999 Mercury 135 2 stroke to up power my boat. I'm looking for good, bad and what to look for with this outboard. Any info would be appreciated!
 
Can you take it for a spin? Check for compression, skeg/prop incidents.....possible bent prop shaft, if so. Saltwater motor? More advice, more possible long-term issues.
 
I havent got that far yet. I wanted to know more about it before I talked to him. I figured the very least was to run with hose to warm up then do compression check. If he wont let me, then just walk
