Need some help here. Changed the lower unit gear oil and it came out milky, obviously water in the gear oil so I pulled the water pump off and found the oil seals on the top side of the lower unit were leaking. I ended up replacing all four of the seals, o-rings and water pump assembly, etc. I pulled the whole prop shaft/prop shaft assembly to get to the seals.
Everything up to this point went without issues. Where I am running into issues is the reassembly, specifically getting the gear box/shift selector to match. When I first reassembled all three positions (F-N-R) were stuck in forward, I pulled it all apart and got it to go to neutral in the neutral position, reverse in the reverse position and forward in the forward position, however, it struggles to go into forward and doesn’t seem to be fully engaging. I have the service manual but cannot figure out what I am doing wrong based on what it’s telling me to do to reassemble.
