I have a 1981 Chrysler 140hp outboard on my 1965 Gulfstream runabout. Is it possible to swap the motor out with a newer outboard? Please help.

Sure why not,..... Pull that motor, buy another motor, 'n controls, 'n put it on,.....

Happens everyday,.....
 
I'd suggest checking for a rating plate on the hull...should show maximum rated HP for any engine installed on it....don't exceed that and you should be fine...
 
i know the first Glastron we had in the family had one....and we went thru the same process....that was a 1967 hull...and it had one.

can't say when they started with the rating plates
