Hello all,

new to marine. Just purchased a boat/motor package and the chryeler 9.2 is down on power. I did a compression test and both cylinders are at 70psi.

Can anyone tell me where I can get new piston rings or even a part number?? been researching but cant find anything.

Thanks

IF????? both pistons are at 70# ????
I'd guess the gauge or the way the test was done was faulty????
Depending on the flywheel? if there's a nut on top? you can remove the plugs and hook up a drill
to spin the flywheel.
Way easier than pulling and pulling.

Both at 70 shows the comp is even(good)and probably doesn't need rings.

Finding pistons and rings for something that old???? not gonna be easy.
Try Franz Marine.

The issue I have is the motor does not hit max RPM on the water and is lacking top end power. Runs well in a bucket but cannot get the small 12 ft boat onywhere near a plane on the lake. Everything seems good with the motor and I purchased it as (fully serviced) by a small motor mechanic but when I compare to videos of similar motors at WOT mine is not making the revs or the power.

What rpm's does it make?
You sure both plugs are firing?
The diaphragm in good shape?

Should be a tag someplace on the bottom cowl that has performance
data on the tag???
Then hook a tiny tach to it and see what rpm's at wide open your running??

IF?? the boats overloaded not firing on one cylinder, or has the wrong prop? all would lower the rpm's .

My neighbor has a 9.9 and it ran pretty good but he said it should be faster.
We put it in the water and he was right, a real DOG!!!
I started checking things??
Turns out he wasn't getting spark on the bottom cylinder :(
The plug wire was laying in the bottom and unhooked(simple things :) )
