Hello All,
Me and my guys recently purchased a boat and outboard motor. Initially the motor turned on during the viewing and functioned fine. However, 12hrs later we struggled to get her on at all. After a while of running fast, idle, we managed to get her on in neutral, even engage in forward idle. Unfortunately, when we try to throttle beyond forward idle, she coughs & cuts out.
So far we have checked the spark plugs, fuel type, oil, fuses and air filter. We believe the issue may be due to the seller demonstrating the engine function with year old fuel running through, which subsequently may have gunked up the carburetor. The engine has less than 100hrs and is spotless.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
