1977 Mercury 6hp?

Hi all, picked up this outboard from my in-law's garage who were looking to get rid of it. The decals and serial number (4746408) seem to suggest it is a 1977. However, I can't find anything about Mercury making a 6hp motor that year. All I see is 4.5 & 7.5hp. Anyone have any info to point me in the right direction so I can figure out what I have in front of me and start getting it running? Pictures attached. Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry, Thus far It seems I can only locate the same info you've found both in the year guide and parts guides.

Very clean looking engine you have there...The decals seem like new...Maybe it was a 1977 7.5-HP at one time but the decals show different now...Only a guess of course.

Are there any numbers on the engine welch plug like mentioned here for example, http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/showthread.php?465500-8hp-Identification&p=689134#post689134

There may have been a restrictor kit offered for HP restricted lakes in some markets.----Anything in behind the carburetor ?

Thanks for the replies! As far as I know, it has been stored in a garage for most of its life so not a lot of wear & tear. Forgive my ignorance, I couldn't seem to find any core plugs on the block. Is there a specific area I should be looking? Numbers stamped on the block that I could find are in the attached pictures (matching S/N to transom bracket, 1019-5280, 837-6476, and 74918). Not sure if any of those are helpful.
Also attached is a picture of the carb part # with how it attaches in the background of the picture. Looks like just a gasket behind the carburetor to me since it's pretty thin. Copper in color with some type of RTV-looking black sealant. Not sure how thick a restrictor plate would be.

The " comet decal " identifies it as a 7.5 block with small intake ports.-----Those other numbers are typical casting numbers for parts and mean very little in your search.
