1982 Evinrude 15 HP E15ECNC has a simple 3 phase rectifier for a battery charger.
That part number is 0581778.
It works well but pushes the battery voltage to 6.5 volts or more.
For the sake of battery life, I would like to replace it with a regulated rectifier or add a voltage regulator.
CDI has a regulated rectifier 193-3408 which might work but there are two concerns.
1. The picture shows 3 wires plus ground wire.
The original basic rectifier has 4 wires and ground through mounting and the stator provides 3 AC signals.
2. The list of models the CDI works for does not include 1982 E15ECNC.
Does anyone have any experience with this device or any other suggestions?
Thanks.
