Mercontrol problems

I have a 1975 50 hp merc and mercontrol. I changed the cables and am having trouble with keeping the pin for the neutral position in place when reassembling the mercontrol unit. Any advise or maybe some pics of the assembly would be GREATLY appreciated!

Have you the spring in place? The piece of metal behind the roller E
