Rebuilding an old Evinrude 140 V4 VRO. No water at tell tale.

Refurbing a 140hp V4 VRO that has sat a LONG time.

Finally got the gearcase off to put in a new water pump.

Thought I'd test the water circuit, so I put a hosepipe direct onto the water tube, while the gearcase is off.

No water seen at tell tale. Water is coming out of a hole next to where the water tube enters the engine casing, right up inside the mid section.

Shouldn't there be water at the tell tale?

Does the motor need to be turning or running?

Is there a valve somewhere that might be stuck?

HELP!

Model # is ??-----Check the wee tell tale hose and fitting for blockage.-------No valves in the tell tale circuit.-----Sat for a " long time " may suggest an issue with motor.-----I would do a compression test before spending any coins on it.

It appears to have started working. Not sure if there was a blockage or if the aspirator valve was stuck or I just wasn't waiting long enough for it to fill up!

There sure is a LOT of water in there.

Anyway it's running out freely from the tell tale.

Next step, getting it to run for more than 2 seconds.
