correct spark plug gap for 1997 evinrude 40 hp

Pretty basic question, but I can't find it antwhere. Please, what is the correct spark plug gap for a 1997 evinrude 40 hp motor? Thanks.
 
Set them at 0.030"-------But I have seen plugs worn / open to 0.060" and what does that mean ??----It means that it started and ran just fine for the owner of the motor !!
