Replacing Optimax 115 Copper Water tube

Hello everyone,

First post on this forum.

I am in the process of replacing the copper water tube in the mid section of my 2010 - 115 Optimax. The end of the tube is corroded from lack of attention by the previous owner. I have the power head off, exhaust plate and the lower unit mid section apart. Unfortunately, the only bolts that are giving me a real problem are the water tube clamp bolts in the exhaust tube. Rather than risk breaking them, I cut the bad section of copper out and pieced in a replacement from the new water tube with a piece of 3/4 copper acting as a coupling. This is a perfect fit and fix, only question is should I braze the copper repair or would it be better to use an epoxy like JB WEld?
Thanks!

Allen
