I did not get any replies on the Yamaha forum so I am trying here:
My friend has twin outboards with the Mercury name on the covers. They are manufactured by Yamaha I believe and are 4 strokes. We had sudden power loss in one engine, max rpm it would reach was 2500. We made it back to the harbor and the engine quit, but restarted. Both engines feed off of the same fuel tank. No error codes on computer.
What troubleshooting steps do you recommend? I'd like to point him in the correct direction.
