Alpha 1, Gen1, propeller oil seal replacement

What is std shop procedure for changing these oil seals?

I’ve seen them done successfully without pulling the whole propeller assembly out of the case, but is the risk of scratching the prop shaft worth the cost of labor to pull it?

I decided to take my boat to the shop to have the new water pump impeller replaced. I was concerned with getting it apart successfully. I have a sneaking feeling it’s never been done before. Now I’ve been given the bad news the oil seals are gone. I’m debating whether to just have them do this while it’s there, or just do the seals myself without pulling the whole assembly.

advise would be welcome on this. Kirk

I did mine with a couple of self-tapping sheet metal screws. Center punch a dimple 180 degrees apart, drive the screws in with a drill motor, and gently pry the seal out, a bit on one side, then the other.
