I am adjusting a shift cable. I have verified 7 9/16ths dimension with OMC Shift cable tool. The Bell crank was verified to Shift Lever. However this leaves too much cable protruding. It is not possible to properly adjust the swivel retainer. Could it be that the new shift cable is too long? Can it be trimmed?
