2006 Mercruiser 3.0 will not start - intermittently

Hello,

I recently purchased a used boat from a dealership. I have had the boat out several times. I noticed on a couple of occasions that when I turn on the ignition switch my accessories work fine. My battery meter reads 11-12 volts. When I turn the key to start, I get nothing. The starter does not turn. Does not engage or anything. No sound in the engine compartment. Made sure the kill switch was not activated. Made sure it was in neutral. Full tank of gas. Taking the key out of the ignition and repeating the process would usually correct itself after a couple of tries. This past weekend, same symptom. However lasted quite a while. Thought I was going to have to get towed in. But luckily it did finally turn the starter. Is there a way to check the ignition switch to make sure the contacts inside are good? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.
