I am looking for a small and light outboard motor for my inflatable. The boat can take up to 3HP motor but I am willing to sacrifice speed for weight (lighter the better). It is going to be solely used for short trips on local lakes with my kids. Picture like 200-300 yards from the boat launch. No few miles runs.
There are few Gamefisher/Superbugs available locally. Some of them run but with some issues, some are the usual "ran great last summer", etc. They prices are around $100. I can do some basic maintenance like cleaning the carb, replacing spark plugs, wires, etc. Are those engines worth getting even though most of them need some work? I still can't register my boat with the MVC due to the Covid-19 situation so while I am waiting for the offices to open, I could work on the motor.
