I have a 1987 Force 50 hp that idles good but sputters when increasing power.
Checked all the fuel issues i can think of.
Checked google and youtube.
Thanks

The high speed jet in the carb might be clogged? Clean it?
While it's off look inside at the reeds and make sure they're ok, no cracked or broken, missing petals??

Do a compression and check the spark on both cyl.

Check the fuel pump, does the squeeze ball get firm when pumped?

Post the results?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Had the carb off and cleaned out the bowl and the two jets one at the bottom of the tube inside and one that was on the outside.
Which one is the high speed?
Compression both cylinders was 130 pounds.
Checked fuel pump with motor running.
Ball gets firm when pumping.
Also found feathering choke with motor above idle the rpm's dropped some and sputtering stopped.
TIA

Jet on the bottom is the high speed.
One tiny piece of dirt can clog it.

You check the reeds ? Remove the carb and look at the petals.
Any broken/missing?

Update
Put boat in water, starts good idle good rpms rev up about twenty five percent then continue to increase throttle and no more rpm's.
Tried adjusting carb but made no difference. TIA
