Indmar 5.7 with HVS distributor

Hello,

I have a Malibu from 2008 with a 5,7 liter Indmar engine.
After an engine rebuild, engine is working in perfect condition but I can't reach the cam phase target of 705º. Distributor was installed as mentioned in service manual and also as I did many times with Mercruiser MPI engines. Engines starts and runs fine but when reading cam phase with Diacom, my value is 630-635º. Moving the distributor to both sides, the maximum value I can reach is 640º but the spark starts to cross fire and the engine starts to missfire.
I was informed that maybe my distributor is one teeth off, but I tried many times and it is perfectly installed...
Somebody can help? What this 705º value means? In my case 635º?
Thanks in advance.

Think in terms of crankshaft angle.
Count the number of teeth on the small sprocket and divide that into 360.
NOTE: not all chain/sprocket sets are the same!

For examples:

If 24 teeth, that would equal 15 degrees.
15 degrees is significant, and would make a huge difference.

If 18 teeth, that would equal 20 degrees.
20 degrees is even more significant, and would make an even larger difference.

In other words, it's doubtful that you are off by one tooth.

More than that, Indmar has had a couple different ECU's used with the HVS distributors and the specific cam position parameter (& its value) can vary depending on the combination...

Thanks for your help,
I understan that, but do you have any idea aboit what I'm doing wrong?
Why the engine is working perfect and cam phase is so far way from desired value?
