I have what I believe is a 89 force 50 outboard motor that I recently bought. I have been trying to get it to start but it won’t. It will crank and crank but never kick over. When I am cranking it there is gas that comes pouring out of the exhaust at the bottom of the motor near the prop. What is causing this??
 
The excess gas could be the fuel pump.
The rubber diaphragm might have a hole?
You do a compression and a spark test? post your results?
If the fuel pumps bad? it can have so much fuel in the cylinders that it is flooded.
Clean the plugs, then check for spark.

The 89 might have a kill switch, check for that?
Then check the flywheel key and make sure it's not sheared.
