Installing powerhead for first time

I finally got my connecting rod alignment issue resolved by buying new WSM rods (great product) and am ready to install the powerhead.

The manual calls for installing the powerhead with the lower end in place. My lower end is currently off the boat. Is the job easier to put the lower end on first or does it really matter?

It's actually easier with g/c off.
