Troubleshooting alarm

I have the "it could be oil or overheat" alarm. I swapped out my waterpump, the old one seemed pretty good.
Put it back in the water. I take it out and the tell tale looks fine. Start going full blast and the alarm goes off. Shut down, wait, start back up. Go full blast for several minutes, no alarm. This happened the two times I took it out since replacing the water pump.

Makes me wonder, is it oil or overheat. Does the red light on the motor come on for just oil or for either oil or overheat. Also, how do I identify the temp sensor so I can disconnect it to troubleshoot that way.

Makes me wish I had a temp gauge on the dash. Is there a way to add that?

A lot of questions I know, I have done some searching but I'm not coming up with anything specific to my model

Thanks everyone.
