Hello everyone im new to the forum.
I've got a problematic 85hp evinrude and im looking for expert advice.
At wide open throttle it will hit 4400-4500 rpm and start to bog like it just ran out of gas. Sometimes its just a small drop of 100rpm then it resumes. Other times it drops all the way down to 3000 and stays there until i let up then return to wot.
I had it out yesterday and it did well for most of the day then on the way back to the dock it got worse. The gas tank was getting kind of low but it still ran around idle and mid rpm. I had also adjusted the timing to 26* btdc right before it happened.
So far its had 4 new coils, new plugs, carbs redone, new fuel pump, new primer line and hose, and a new gas tank.
All cylinders have spark that jumps a 7/16 gap at idle. Stator output is 270v AC and is not shorted. Timer base output is 1.5-2v with a resistance of 8 ohms for both coils. This is slightly low comparing to the cdi electronics chart but would 2 ohms difference cause this issue? All values were checked with a normal multimeter and dva adapter.
Compression numbers were around 115-125 when i checked a few months ago.
