Was wondering what this yellow packet in front plate of cowling is? for? do I need it? Prob never replaced if so, thanks

It looks like the rope start compartment or a sound deadening blanket pack. Poke it with your fingers.

Agrreeed----Many motors including up to 100 HP came from the factory with the " armstrong starter " hidden under the cowling.

Don’t feel anything in it, does have some thickness to it so may be the sound packet thing thanks
