2005 Volvo penta 8.1 over heating

New member
Changed impeller and now not priming. I can hook a water hose to the hose that comes from the lower unit and it cools and runs perfect but when I put the muffs on it back it in the water it will not pick up. Any suggestions? I’ve tried everything I know
 
Did you check the replacement impeller against the previous impeller to ensure that the depth was correct?
When the impeller is placed in the pump body, it should sit proud by approx .010" or so.



Did you reconnect the suction and supply hoses to the seawater pump correctly?

It evidently was working before you changed the impeller so review your work.
Impeller vane direction correct? Some say it dosent matter and they will find there correct direction sometimes they dont
