1973 20hp no spark

I bought a 73 20hp John for $10 I got it home went to check for spark and there wasn’t any what’s the first thing I should try to fix.
 
Do a compression test first to see if it's worth fixing the electric. Then take the flywheel off and look at the points and coils. Replace spark plugs and spark plug leads.
