I have an important but what may seem like a silly question wrt my MFS6B 6HP. The owner's manual says "Insert the dipstick to the hole completely." before removing to check the level. I have always taken this to mean screwing in completely before removing to check. Is that correct? I ask because I recently discovered that my Yanmar inboard gear oil is checked without screwing it back in, according to its service manual.
