Hey Forum buddies!

New to boating, 1st boat, learning as I go the last 3 years.
I have a problem i can't get rid of
Hopefully one of you guys will help me :)

2003 Johnson J50PLSTD 50hp/2001 22ft Odyssey Pontoon

Motor starts no problem, warms up no problem. full throttle, low throttle everything perfect. all of a sudden in any throttle the boat rears back and slows down like it lost a cylinder. (it can last 1 min or as long as 7 hours for it to come back.) i can coast around and turn it off and restart it with the lost cylinder and the only thing i found that gets it to come back is if i trim the prop up to the top of the water and it revs a tad and sometimes it catches and runs fine after that until the next time outta the blew it does it again.I winterize, and maintain my stuff. I have replaced oil, gear lube, spark plugs, and a new prop. (The problem was there before the prop change.)

So any ideas? i was thinking might be a bad coil or bad spark plug wire....
whatcha think? Thanks again and very very much appreciated for any help received :)
