Hello!
I have a Mariner 40e serial no.6e9l402740 I'm looking for info on, does anyone know the year? I'm looking for a prop shaft for it but I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right diagram.
 
Motor was built by Yamaha for Merc - it is "mechanically" a Yamaha

6E9 - Yamaha designator telling you that it is mechanically a 1981 Yamaha Model 40FE

L - long shaft model (20")

402740 - built in 1982 - came from factory as an electric start, long shaft model

Sold by Merc as a 40EL Model "C" Mariner ("without" oil injectection/auto-blend)
 
I also have a Mariner 40 hp that i am currently looking for the year made. It is a 40E / 6E9 L. 409471
This info is required to get the motor titled which it is not currently and probably has never been
Can you help me?

On a computer website search your serial number 409471 is coming up as an 1982 40 EL (L = Long Shaft) Model Number 7040522.
