Hi there,

I recently acquired a boat with an OMC engine. It looks like the valve covers were replaced with something else, I have browsed and browsed but could not find where to look for the Model / Serial numbers of the engine... Here's what I have:

V8 OMC
Firing Order: 18436572
Carb: 2 Jet Rochester
Stamped on top of the engine : 348260 GM, the number 13 underneath the first set of numbers
On the drive (OUtside propeller prop) Posted:
Model N.0 981872
Serial No. W202671

I couldn't even find information for the drive!

How can I identify this engine?

The boat was made in 1979 but I am unsure that the engine is the original...

FYI - I couldnt' figure out the engine by any serials or numbers, just couldn't find anything. I ended up buying a carb rebuild kit for it and found out that the carb on this motor is only available for the 305 stern drive so I found out for sure that was the engine. It is what I suspected.

There was water all in it from years of sitting in the weather with the carb open, ouch -- MMM down the cylinders, oil change and new rebuild on the carb should fire her back up! Excited
