1973 mercury 1500 L6 no spark

Hello Gentlemen
I haven’t been on since April but wanted to let y’all know that I replaced the distributor. Triggers were melted! Boat will start now! When I first started it, I had no water coming out so I replaced the water pump impeller. I put water directly to the water tube and got water out of the side hole. I still do not have water coming out when the engine is running. Any suggestions?
 
Did you put the copper water tube in at the top first and then watch careful when you raised the lower unit to make sure that the lower end went into the water pump guide tube? It is very easy to misallign that pipe.
 
Is it possible that the key that secures the impeller to the shaft fell out? If it did the shaft wouldn't really be driving the impeller.
 
Took it back apart and used the original housing Don't know why but problem solved.
Re aligned shifter and fixed no forward problem.

going to take it out to the lake next weekend and open it up!
