odd electrical issue

to make a long story short... Yamaha 70 (2014) engine will crank and operate just fine. then i will turn it off. when I go to crank it back up nothing happens. No power to the motor at all. If I unhook the battery for 2 seconds and hook it back up, then the engine will crank up just fine. I have no idea what is going on. I even bought a brand new battery and it is still happening. thanks for any help in advance!
 
Grab yourself a multimeter and conduct volt drop test. New battery so you can rule that out as the issue. Now start moving aft towards starter. Likely the ground cable to starter is bad...or connection at neg terminal on starter. Use the continuity meter setting to check pos/neg cable.
