Lower Unit Oil Drain Plug Compatibility

I have a 2000 Mercury 30hp 1031412WD. The oil drain plugs are getting pretty ragged from poorly fitting flat head screw drivers over the years. I recently saw some Evinrude/Johnson oil drain plugs that have Allen keys (OMC Part #0307551) instead and I was wondering if they would be compatible or if there are Mercury specific plugs I can get with Allen keys instead of flathead slots.

The OMC plugs don't have a magnet on them so I don't think it would work for the bottom plug, but what about the top one?

The thread on the Mercury (except for the Verado series) drain/fill screws are 3/8-16 (0.25" long).
Get a 3/8-16 screw (or a Mercury drain/fill screw) and see if it goes into a Evinrude/Johnson engine.
If it does, you can interchange.

Right. And an impact driver gets the stubborn ones out.
