smartcraft gauge alarm

hello folks , just went out for the first time this season with my mako 181 flats boat equipped w/a 2002 135optimax. during my trip and alarm went off saying that i have "100% oil reserve" . thinking i'm low on oil in my external oil tank ,i bought a gallon and put that in. on my next trip the alarm is still going off, whats going on?
 
It can only be a problem with the float / magnetic washer or wiring issue , with the motor mounted small oil tank. Check it by unplugging the harness on the oil tank and bridge the terminals using a paper clip (opened up U) and insert it into the boat harness oil plug.
If the alarm goes away you need a new small oil resivor.
