I have a 92 boat with an OMC drive.... the Carb'ed 5.0 ford engine has been replaced with an MPI 5.0 ford engine with electronic ignition....

the ESA module went away with the old motor....

so we have an new engine in fromt of a dog clutch cobra, with no shift assist....

the "normal open" switch on the shift linkage plate is there and functional, BUT its not connected to anything.... the wires are hanging.

it can be wired like a merc, but i dont know which wires to work with...

can someone tell me which wire of the distributor or coil I should tap into to get the shift interrupter to function as it should.... and does the wire I tap into have to go to ground, or a hot source to interrupt the ignition? thanks

its a ford system....

I found the answer I was looking for..... the green wire at the coil can be tapped into, to pass thru the shift interrupt switch to ground....
