Bellows adhesive?

Replacing both bellows in my 2002 Volvo SX-M outdrive. I don't have the bellows adhesive it calls for. All boat shops are closed. How important is the adhesive and is there anything I can use as a substitute? (Red 3M gasket?)

Thanks For the quick reply. I can’t wait for the sun to come up so I can get back out there and finish this job. Want to get back on the lake, as long as it’s not closed to the virus. The best fishing lake in Nevada, pyramid Lake, has been closed indefinitely. Oh well?? Thanks again, Rick
