water pump help for a 99 Nissan, NS140A2

After replacing the water pump, I was installing the lower unit and damaged the water tube from the pump to the engine, I have the parts for replacement, but I need help as to how to remove the old pipe and upper seal, it looks like it could just pull out but wanted to ask before I tried, the parts list says there is a locking rubber seal, not sure how it locks but it sure is tight, any reinstall tips would be great too. Thanks.
 
There are 3 parts to the upper seal. The locking rubber keeps the tube in place. We would typically pull the powerhead to replace the tube.
