Lower unit nut

Just bought a used 2002 40hp Merc 4 stroke, several parts missing...oh the fun..one is the hidden nut under the trim tab to remove the lower unit, look close to 3/8 but must be metric, anybody know the size ? thanks Rob

Did you try a 10mm? It may not be the correct bolt. Since it's a parts motor.

no much larger than that, close the sae 3/8 thread,
not a parts motor, just servicing it and getting ready to use
