Hello all, from SC.
I have a 25hp Johnson that, due to cancer surgeries and recoveries, has not been started in over 4 years. I am better now, thank the Lord, and have had the boat and motor covered, until this week. My question is: I changed plugs, greased points, and got it to start, and water pump working fine. It spits a good bit, but I am a pretty good mechanic, but my question is about the oil/gas ratio, after it sat for so many years. I know breaking is 25:1, but I mixed 50:1 and it is smoking a lot and sputters on idle. Should I run a 25:1 to get it back going well, and then return to 50:1? Thanks for time to read long 1st time forum inquiry
