1993 tracker pro17 with 40hp johnson,problems while turning ???

HI guys new to this forum and boating some what...My boats prop loses it bite in the water when I turn sharper turns, speed doesnt seem to matter..My motor has three positions for trim,I'm using the middle hole...My boat comes up on plane fast and top speed to close to 35mph....Is this just how this boat acts on the water??.
 
Sounds like motor is mounted too high.-----Measure height of transom.------I would say it might be 21" instead of 20".------Only 3 positions for trim ?-------Model # of the motor is ?
 
Measured transom its 20" , motor serial j40eletb.....The motor has 3 positions when the motor is down to adj. trim,I'm in the center hole....It looks like the motor can go no lower because motor bracket already sitting on top of the transom...��
 
Long shaft / short shaft sometimes is confusing.-----Your boat has a 20" transom and therfore it requires a long shaft.-----Long shaft or short shaft there is the same amount of motor below the hull !!
