hi there
I'm restoring a 25 christ craft and need to install the motor in attachment.
I am in search of some infos about it
- transmission model and eventually tables and suggestions
- raw water cooling pipes circuit (original is missing)
- cylinder order (considering that it is a forward flywheel)
- oil (type and volume)
the motor is fully redone, need I a particular oil for first running?

thanks!

Sorry, but I do not know what transmission would have been used back in 1962.
Perhaps join a forum specializing in ChrisCraft restorations.

- raw water cooling pipes circuit (original is missing)
Unless you are hell bent on doing an authentic restoration, I would plumb it in a modern day fashion.
The old methods were complex and are silly by today's standards.

- cylinder order (considering that it is a forward flywheel)
Regardless of the engine orientation (conventional or flywheel forward), the cylinder numbering and firing order remains the same.

- oil (type and volume)
Ask your engine re-builder what they recommend for break in oil.
The oil volume will depend on the size of the oil pan. If this is a large aluminum Chriscraft oil pan, you may need to go by the dip stick's "full" marking.

See above..
Keep in mind that the 283 was a flat tappet camshaft engine.
There will be a 15 to 20 minute 2,000 +/- RPM run in cycle that must be followed.
This ensures that the cam followers receive adequate lubrication during the run-in.

Once this has been done, do not run it for long periods until it's installed.
Once installed, you will have the ability to load it while doing the balance of the run-in procedure.

thanks!

A few observations:

I can't see from the photo..... but if that ignition distributor has a vacuum advance unit on it, it will be an automotive unit.
If so, it will not only be illegal (at least here in the US), it will have an incorrect advance curve for Marine use.
An incorrect advance curve can damage a Marine Engine.

The carburetor appears to be equipped for a copper tube to supply heat to the choke linkage helix.
This may indicate that it is an Automotive carburetor.

If that little fuel filter has a glass bowl on it, it would also be illegal, not to mention unsafe.
