Default 1961 evinrude fastwin 18 to electric start

old lurker looking for help. I have a 1961 two stroke 18 fastwin 18 I need to put electric starter on. I've been told it can be done. This is a tiller motor mod 15034. Can anyone point me in the right direction on part numbers for bracket, motor and all other parts I need. I am a rookie when it comes to outboards. I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you all.

Your best bet is to find a donor motor.-----Johnson or Evinrude 22 cubic inch ----1958 to 1976 ------sold as an 18 , 20 , 25 hp model.------Or E-bay if you don't have time and lots of cash.-----Check e-bay listings carefully.

So parts from a johnson will interchange with no problems then. Thank you.
Part numbers would help if anyone might know what they are.
Thank you racerone for the info.

There is a box on this page.------ENGINE DIAGRAMS---Just a few clicks.------Look up the motors.-------Make your list of parts you need to look for that are within your budget.-----The ring gear for flywheel was listed very early.-----Electric start kits were a factory accessory , dealer installed as early as 1958 models.----1974 models were first listed as electric start on this site.----As I said DONOR motor is the way to go for all the parts

Thank you racerone. I found the diagram page. I still haven't found a donor motor yet, but will keep looking. Arthoritise is making it difficult to pull start this thing...

Perhaps check that the recoil starter is properly set up.------Yes these motors need a bit of oomph to pull over.------I used to lift these motors with ease but now I struggle with a 10 HP model like that.-----Lots of these motors around for parts in some areas.----Your location ?

Try Tim's Outboard in Hackensack MN. Mike or Dan may be able to set you up with a kit. 218 682 2331. Any lakes where your going? They allow 2 strokes?
